LED (Lighting Emitting Diode) lighting is a type of semiconductor solid-state light emitting device, also known as light-emitting diode lighting. It uses solid semiconductor chips as luminescent materials to emit excess energy through carrier recombination in the semiconductor, causing photon emission and directly emitting red, yellow, blue, and green light. Based on this, using the principle of three primary colors and adding fluorescent powder, any color of light can be emitted. The lighting fixtures manufactured using LED as a light source are LED lamps.
LED driving power supply is a power converter that converts power supply into specific voltage and current to drive LED light emission. Generally, the input of LED driving power supply includes high-voltage AC (i.e. mains power), low-voltage DC, high-voltage DC, low-voltage high-frequency AC (such as the output of electronic transformers), etc.
There are two driving methods: one is to use a constant voltage source to supply multiple constant current sources, and each constant current source supplies power to each LED separately. This method is flexible in combination, and if one LED fails, it will not affect the operation of other LEDs, but the cost will be slightly higher. Another method is direct constant current power supply, with LED series or parallel operation. Its advantage is that it has a lower cost, but its flexibility is poor. It also needs to solve the problem of a certain LED failure that will affect the operation of other LEDs. These two forms coexist for a period of time. The multi-channel constant current output power supply method will be better in terms of cost and performance. Perhaps it will be the mainstream direction in the future.
